Earlier this month we traveled to Washington DC for the Cherry Blossom Festival and 10-mile race. This year was even better than last. Although it was much cooler than last year (low 50-degree temps) we were lucky to catch the blossoms during their peak this time.
The race course starts and finishes at the Washington monument, and runs several ways around the tidal basin, into Arlington, along Rock Creek Parkway, and to Hains Point and back. After the run, we collected our medals, food and drink goodies, and started to wonder North back into DC. As we walked past the White House, we joined the huddles of tourist groups to take a few pictures of the house. I had never seen before the White House Kitchen garden. The Kitchen Garden has been in place since Thomas Jefferson. More recently it is one of Michelle Obama's focuses to help promote healthy eating.
When I get some pictures of our own mini kitchen garden that we've started (a tomato, basil, and cilantro to start) I'll post them to compare to Michelle's! lol!
